Jamestown Lapbook: A Fun and Interactive Way to Learn About Early America
Lapbooks are an excellent way to help kids interact with what they are learning. As they work through the Jamestown Lapbook, they’ll discover interesting facts about the first permanent English settlement in North America including information about a variety of people involved in the settlement and the trials they faced.
A Lapbook is perfect for hands-on learners or students who need some extra reinforcement to remember information. They also serve as a great way to review information. Just say, “Show Dad what you made today,” and they won’t even realize they’re narrating (a very stealthy move on your part as a homeschool mom!)
And as a bonus, lapbooks help kids with their fine motor skills, too, as they cut and paste the booklets onto a file folder.
Whether you choose to do the Jamestown Lapbook as a quick overview, or as a part of a larger study, you’ll have everything you need.
Here are some of our favorite resources that you can use alongside the Jamestown Lapbook:
The Jamestown Lapbook Includes:
- Black and white pages so your children can color and personalize the lapbook
- Mini booklets to cut out and past that include topics such as the pilgrims voyage, the setting up of the settlement, Native American involvement, and more!
- Place to record other information they personally learned not covered in one of the mini-booklets they can cut out and paste
We love lap books for hands-on and visual learners! They are affordable, no mess, and you only need a few supplies you already have at home.
